Like many art forms, photography is an expression or intention of the artist’s talents. Our wedding photography follows that description as we document and interpret what we see through our lenses. We strive to capture the heart, emotions, moments and feelings for our couples as we artistically document their weddings and life events.
Meet the Photographers: Kelli & Bill Nixon
Kelli expresses herself through what she sees through her lens. What makes her a very special photographer is her ability to “see” people’s hearts. She has a keen sense of timing and framing coupled with a very strong technical ability. Her outgoing and bubbly personality is a welcome match for brides on their wedding day. Brides can sometimes (well, most of the time) be nervous on their wedding day. Kelli is a welcome, calming, happy and organized addition and a perfect go-to person to keep the day running smoothly.
With over 150 weddings, Kelli’s experience helps her not miss a moment. Her trigger finger is poised and ready to capture the little glances, the looks, the emotions and the happiness that goes with the most special day of people’s lives.
Bill Nixon – Photographer and cinematographer
Bill started shooting weddings as a cinematographer (videographer) and has captured over 200 individual weddings since 2004. Making the switch to photography and crossing over is natural for a videographer. Many of the skills and techniques from video transfer over to photography and often, some of the most talented photographers were videographers first.
Bill has a passion for the perfect lighting. He is constantly refining his skills with long shutter drags for night photography, off-camera lighting techniques and interesting back lighting. A wedding is a perfect event for him as lighting situations are constantly changing.
The Team
Most of the weddings we shoot now are shot together. We find that our skills with photography are a perfect match, similar to our marriage. We compliment the talents of one another and help each other throughout the weddings that we shoot by bouncing ideas off of one another. During weddings, we have a little personal competition going as well. We are competing for the “Best Shots of the Day” where we will see who can take the very best shots for our clients. Our flirty competition between one another often produces some of our most artistic and technically difficult images. And it’s like Christmas every time we import and edit.
Limited Weddings
Unlike some of the larger studios, we take a very limited number of weddings each year and book weddings up to 18 months in advance. We don’t assign secondary or staff photographers to your wedding . We are the team. On rare occasion, we will hire some very talented area photographers to “second shoot” for us. Typically this happens when couples choose to have videography as part of their package and want Bill as their cinematographer.
*Because of the shorter season in Colorado for weddings, it often happens that we will have two couples who want the same date. Please know that we will book dates with a contract and deposit and will not otherwise hold dates open.
